About Us

Skaijak is a small kennel situated in North Yorkshire. We have owned, shown and worked Pons since 1993. We run a fencing business from home, and have a son who races Quad bikes—so home life is hectic, but we are always happy for people to visit and see the dogs at home.

As a breeder the most important things to us are temperament and construction. If a puppy is well constructed and has a good temperament, when it goes to its new home I hope I have given the new owner a puppy that they can train and have great fun with.

About Lesley

Lesley NaylorI bought my first dog a Dobermann as soon as I could, he was a real softie no one told him he was a Dobe, it was through him I became interested in Obedience as he had a bad habit of not wanting to be caught so I joined a local dog club (still a member, trainer and treasurer… years later.)

It was there I met a Beardie breeder who asked if I showed Schultz the Dobe. I said I had never been to a Dog show, so she asked me along. The rest is history, as they say!

I got my first Pon tia (Mybeards Rio of Skaijak) from Diane Mottram of the Mybeards kennel. She did well in the show ring and produced my first Champion Ch. Skaijak Accolade (Lilly).

Lilly also won Pre beginners and 3 Beginners in Open Obedience. She went on to produce Ch Skaijak Flora (Anya) who competed in Obedience, gaining many placings in Novice, as in Obedience once a handler has won out of Beginners future dogs have to start in Novice.

She also put her paw in the Heelwork to Music ring. Her daughter Skaijak Little Mynx has 2 CC,s and about 9 Res CC’s at the last count, she now has her daughter Skaijak Prediction hard on her heels with 2cc’s and 2 res CC’s, so I think Teka may take more of a back seat this year as I also have Skaijak Riff Raff and Skaijak’s Shenanigans to show. They are only 10 months and hopefully Riff will be seen in the Obedience ring. (Just have to find the time to train him!)
